LINDA PRESTON AND I (Dr. ROBERT HOLT)

VISITED THE OUTER BANKS, MANTEO, AND

ORACOKE ISLANDS IN EARLY

MAY, 2011 AND TOOK THESE PICTURES!

(OUR DOG MAX WENT ALONG, TOO!)

Besides pictures at the Wright brothers park and replicas, we wrode the free ferry to Oracoke island, visited the famous old lighthouse there, and crossed to the Cape Carteret area on the 3 hour ferry.   At Cape Hattaras we crossed the bridge to Manteo Island and viewed the replica of the fort put up to protect the 'Lost Colony' -- the first attempt to colonize America by the British supported by Sir Walter Raleigh.    Virginia Dare was the first white child born to these would-be colonists.   The photograph of what seems to be a UFO we assume to be a replica also.    No little gray aliens appeared when I approached with my camera.
