An ASHEVILLE FLOOD called

"FRANCES"

[Most of these pictures were taken later, or are of other storms]
Frances did not strike Hendersoville as hard as IVAN, but it closed a few roads, including the one I live on. And knocked over a few trees with high winds and downbursts. But mostly it rained.
There were big puddles in the roads where drainage was not good, like here.

Howard Gap road had an area near a bridge where the road was under water.
Asheville got more water than Hendersonville. A lot of it was in Linda Preston's back yard. But to the average person in our area, it just meant an umbrella, and be careful of wind.

Areas near the French Broad River in Ashville got flooded as the river went over its banks, as happened again during IVAN. Shown below. From the Tribune. September 23-29.
