Luke 24:13 "And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs,

14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

15 And it came to pass, that while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk; and are sad?

18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and has not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people;

20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him."

 Note that here, if this story is to be taken at face value, not symbolically, Jesus was able to appear where no one expected him to be -- and even talk at length with close acquaintenances without them recognizing who was talking with him!

And feign ignorance about any knowledge of affairs that were very well known to him, because he, indeed, was the major actor or victim of this very crucifixion!

He had lunch with these two men at Emmaus, and it was only when he acted as an Essene "High Priest", and blessed the meal in a high-priestly manner that they knew Who he was!

Then Jesus apparently DISAPPEARED, and the excited men rushed back to Jerusalem to relate their experience!

Luke 24:32 "And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them.

34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared unto Simon.

35 And they [the two from Emmaus] told what things were done in the way, and how he was known to them in breaking of bread. [conveying his wishes to now be a "High Priest" for Christians, not a "Messiah" for Jews].

36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them [we assume without coming through the door!], and said unto them, Peace be unto you. [a high-priestly greeting].

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. [This must have been because of the WAY he appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, because his appearance to the two on the way to Emmaus had not frightened them. They had assumed this was an ordinary man. Perhaps some stranger on the trail!]

38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? [Thoughts that He could now obviously read 'Like a Book']

39 Behold my hands and my feet, [crucified hands and feet] that it is I myself; handle me and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have....

42 And they gave him a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

43 And he took it, and did eat before them."

The Mormons, the "Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints", on the strength of this story, had no difficulty believing that Jesus was still available on earth after the crucifixion and resurrection. And that he was able to travel from place to place without detection. And could appear to people and preach his Gospel to them without being recognized. Unless and until He chose to reveal His true identity!

And so the Mormons eventually came to believe that Christ even travelled to our country, the United States of America, and preached to the American Indians, the "Native Americans", long before any other white man set foot on this continent!

If, indeed this happened, and milllions of Americans believe it did, then Jesus back then, as we assume now also, was and is concerned about what the "white man", industrialized, computerized, cell-phone talking, SUV-driving, smoking, drinking, pill-popping modern man is doing to our "Mother" Earth.

At the expense of billions not so fortunate who grow sick, starve, and die so we can live this way! Including, at least for a long time, and to some extent still -- these very Native Americans Jesus is alleged to have preached to!

In the 1840s to 1880s another group besides the Mormons, the Seventh-day Adventists, under the influence of visions and dreams by the prophetess Ellen G. White, cenceptualized a picture of Jesus as a High Priest in a heavenly sanctuary, ministering to a world very much "on probation".

A "High Priest" very much concerned about people's health habits, and caring for the poor.

The idea that Jesus was spending all his time in a "Heaven" billions of miles away was further eroded, at least in my mind, once I learned to do and interpret Bible Computer Codes, in the summer of 1998. The Codes of a time/space "voyager".

And from these Codes, which bore the clear marks of Jesus' participation, I learned of his concern for our politics, and for our environment.

Instead of coming in the clouds of heaven [Matthew 24:30-31] to take all Christians to a type of "Heaven" that may not really exist as promoted [by Adventists, Pentecostals, and Evangelicals], Jesus as Meghaváhana ["Rider of the Clouds"], may instead be using those same "clouds" to "destroy them which destroy the earth."
