Simon
Peter became Cephas as the
story is told in in John 1:42 "And when Jesus beheld him, he
said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas: thou shalt be called
Cephas, which is by interpretation, a STONE."
Although throughout the Gospels
of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, "Peter" is consistently called either
"Peter" of "Simon called Peter", Paul just as consistently calls him
"Cephas" and it's probable, I think, that most everybody else called
him Cephas also. Roman Catholics like to call him
Peter
because in what Catholics believe
to be one of the most important conversations in the Bible, recorded
only in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says to Cephas:--
"And I say
unto thee, That thou art
Peter,
and upon this
rock
I will build my church, and the
gates of hell
shall not prevail against it."
Matthew 16:18.
The "Gospel"
of Matthew, written by an Essene Jewish priest of the prominent
Priestly Annas or Ananus family, whose name was Matthew or
Matthias Annas, provides Simon Peter with the "Gates of Hell" that
Peter's church will need, together with a new invention,
Purgatory, to be successful in the "Dark" and "Middle Ages" to
rule most Christians successfully and build the wonderful tribute to
Saint Peter
known as
Saint Peter's Cathedral.
Located in that part of the City of
Rome called the
Vatican.
Peter's biological brother, named
Andrew, worked with him at
Simon Magus - Zebedee's Magical
Fishery for Gentile Tourists -- who paid for "Salvation" and a new
Jewish name written on a rock from the nearby Jordan River about 2
miles away. As did also two Roman biological brothers, renamed
"James" and "John" the SONS of Zebedee because "Zebedee" was
their employer and spiritual "Father". These were all Gnostics
and Charismatics except Simon Peter, and perhaps Andrew, who
disliked and rejected this noisy and unpredictable type of Religion.
Zebedee's "Sons" were also called the "Sons of Thunder."

done by me in December of 1992
of Kherbit Mazin, the Essene
"Capernaum", the ruins and water
channel down to the Dead Sea
located 6 KM south of Qumran.
Matthew's
contribution to Simon Peter's later phenomenal success was several
supposed quotations of Jesus referring to "Hell" as a place
to avoid at any cost.
Matthew 5:22 --"I say unto you, That
whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in
danger of the judgment, and whosoever shall say to his brother Raca,
shall be in danger of the (Essene) council: but whosoever shall say,
Thou fool,
shall be in danger of
hell fire."
Matthew 5:29
"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from
thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should
perish, and not that thy whole body should be
cast into hell."
Matthew the
Essene priest that was also one of Jesus' 12 Apostles wrote
down those speeches and sayings and parables of Jesus that
coincided with what the Quumran Essenes actually taught and
practiced, so I can be quite confidant that what Jesus the
ESSENE actually taught was as DIFFERENT from the "Gospel" that
Paul taught his Gentile audience as
DAY
is from
NIGHT.
Which knowledge allows me to go on with this "Foolish"
project, and "barge in where "Angels fear to tread".
Those who call me a FOOL however should watch out, and
remember where Jesus said such people would spend eternity! |
I've shown
elsewhere in this group of pages, that Peter did not actually "curse
and swear" when he denied Jesus on the night before Christ was
crucified, but that it was Peter's assigned ESSENE task to pray one
of the usual Time-Keeping Prayers at 4 AM, on a night when the time
was being "adjusted" (the Cock crowed Twice) -- Peter turned his
back on Jesus to talk to a female Essene doorkeeper.
Of much more
importance in the subsequent History of Religion and Religious
Beliefs is that he, Peter, was instrumental, far more so than Paul,
in the initial suppression of Gnosticism and Charismatic Practices.
At the
Day of Pentecost of 33 AD, not long after the crucifixion of
Jesus and two others of the 12 Apostles, both Zealots --
Simon Zelotes - Zebedee - Lazarus,
and
Judas Iscariot
(described as "hanging himself" in a
partial cover-up of the events) -- Simon Peter is described as being
the major speaker and attraction. As an ex-Charismatic,
he could and no doubt did practice his glossilalia (Speaking
in "Angelic" Tongues -- loudly and all together at once).
And for a few months after that, the quiet Christians and the
Gnostics cooperated.
Simon Magus (as "Pope" John),
once his broken legs healed, accompanied Peter on a "Holy Ghost
Revival" Tour and many were healed in the usual Charismatic manner.
This resulted in the celebrated healing of the man with "Palsy" at
Solomon's Porch. (A deceptive description of the Essene
Quarter).
Acts 3:1-9 "Now Peter and John
(Simon Magus as "Pope") went up TOGETHER into the temple at
the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man
lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the
gate of the temple that is called beautiful, to ask alms of them
that entered into the temple; 3 Who seeing Peter and John
about to go into the temple asked for alms. 4 And Peter, fastening
his eyes upon him with John (good Charismatic Healing technique,
said, Look on us. 5 And he gave heed unto them,
expecting to receive something (a few coins, perhaps) of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none, but such as I
have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up
and walk. 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him
up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entering with
them into the temple, walking,
and
leaping, and
praising God." 9 And all the people saw
him walking and praising God."
Dr. Barara Thiering PhD,
an expert on Essene calendars and on "Gospel Pesher" was able to
determine for her 1992 book "Jesus and the Riddle of the Dead
Sea Scrolls" that Jesus brother James was the "Lame Man"
begging alms here (the Essenes were always "begging alms". And
that he could be called "lame" because he was just entering a 4-year
betrothal period. Jesus figured out a way, by stretching some
Essene rules, that his younger brother James could still attend religious meetings during
this time period. Thiering also figured out that this was the
time, Tuesday September 1 of 33 AD, when "Pope John's" broken legs were now healed
enough for him to accept and perform all the duties of an Essene
"Pope" -- And that Simon Magus as " John" was
back in the same position as he had held before both Jesus and he were crucified.
Only Judas Iscariot actually died at that crucifixion.
And then only because someone pushed him out of a cave window because he
had betrayed the other Essenes involved.
The "honeymoon"
between Gnostic and non-Gnostic Essenes didn't last very long.
It ends on September 16, 35 AD (after 2 years) with the
excommunication of Simon Magus by Simon Peter at the
new Cesearea Essene Center. Symbolically acted out by the
sudden and unexpected "deaths" of Simon Magus and his live-in
female Essene partner Helena (Martha) temporarily given the names
Ananias and Sapphira for this excommunication ceremony.
The story, completely
fiction of course, is told in Acts 5 -- and since I've
already given you the plot, I trust you're smart enough to fill in
all the details. And some of you at least will quit quaking in
your boots waiting for God to strike you dead for not paying
up some money you promised your church way back when you were
younger and more susceptable to
Religious Blackmail.
After this incident in September of 35 AD, Peter
and his church re-defined the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit in a
way in which the leaders of the church could control all of the
religious opinions and spontaneous actions of their congregations,
and the long dark night of total religious conformity began.
So, in a way Simon Peter was indeed the first totally
Roman Catholic "Pope" -- no one else having the right or
inclination to question his authority -- if he was wearing the right
hat, and sitting in the proper chair!
