of Apostasy in Adventism
As anyone at all familiar with what happened in Adventism at the Minneapolis General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists knows, this is the time at which two prominent Adventists, Dr. Eldon Waggoner and Editor and Publisher Alonzo.T. Jones chose to confront what they proposed was "Excessive Legalism" within our church. They suggested that we needed to re-connect with the "RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH" which was the MAJOR THEOLOGICAL MESSAGE being given by the Apostle Paul. And what we as Adventists had lost over the 44 years of following mainly Ellen G. White's dreams and visions and "Testimonies" as promoted by her and her husband James White and those who were in their circle of influence.
The issue was debated all during this 1888 conference session, and Waggoner and Jones, both eloquent debaters, and with Paul's Biblical ELOQUENCE behind their every word and argument, it should not surprise us they won this debate and set the church back on a course of compliance with what other Protestant churches had been teaching all along. Ellen G. White's "visions and dreams" were no match for this powerful onslaught coupled with easily understood BIBLE TRUTH. The aging Ellen White no longer had her long-dead husband to help her, and her "angel friends" were ineffective also, so she fell in line with what turned out to be a MAJOR CHANGE in the Doctrines and Direction of the church. But she did continue to write, and lectured occasionally, until her death in 1915, 27 years later.
Ellen White had 44 years prior to this RADICAL CHANGE in DOCTRINES and DIRECTION of 1888 had what should have been to her a CLEAR WARNING that this would someday happen to HER and TO HER CHURCH, but she was now an OLD LADY, and had never really understood these THEOLOGICAL MATTERS by herself without the help of others like her husband James White, and others like him who had read more and were capable of deeper RESEARCH. She admired these abilities in JONES and WAGGONER and she trusted their RESEARCH and their ARGUMENTS and turned her back on her life-long COUNSELS with what she CONSISTENTLY BELIEVED to be the Holy Ghost. The BOOKS Ellen White wrote after 1888 depended more on the research done by other people than they did on true INSPIRATION of the Biblical Type from "Angels" and the "Holy Ghost" and yet she let people believe that NOTHING HAD CHANGED, and so ordinary church members still bought these books thinking they were getting "Something Special", something written not so much by a fellow "Sister" in the Church, but by God Himself. Which was, to put it plainly, a Lie and a Deception. There's worse than this, however. Sister White also sometimes copied directly what other authors had written, changing the wording to make it seem that she herself had SEEN these things, perhaps in vision. The RESULT -- the Publishing Houses prospered, the Church prospered, a lot of books were SOLD, and Ellen died in 1915 a Rich Woman for that time in history with a good reputation and legacy.
And the church fulfilled the course young Ellen Harmon clearly saw in her first GENUINE VISION that this church would follow. The CHURCH "Stumbled" and fell off the PATH they had started on in following the Real "ESSENE JESUS", not a "FALSE JESUS" invented to deceive the World by Saul of Tarsus. A "FALSE JESUS" based on Roman Mithraism". On the rest of this page I'll recount what Ellen Harmon saw in this her REAL VISION. with a running INTERPRETATION by me (the Essene Scholar) of what the dream means to anyone like myself that knows about the ESSENES, and what they TAUGHT and PRACTICED. The Essenes did not believe in nor practice "Salvation" by FAITH ALONE! They did not believe in a "Divine Trinity". And they did not believe that Yeshua ben Miriam (Jesus Christ) was a biological "Son of God". Any more so than they themselves or their fellow Essene "Brothers and Sisters" were.

Dr. Robert Holt, MD is a Bible Student, Minister, and Dead Sea Scroll and Essene Scholar
Pastor Patrick Williams of the Asheville NC "Foster Memorial SDA Church" does not know as much about the Essenes as I do. He has, however, stopped at the Qumran Monastery ruins, and was not impressed. Had the Seventh-day Adventist Church felt that what was being discovered in the 1950s was as important as not being put into Walter Martin's "Kingdom of the Cults" books being published at that time, Patrick Williams most likely would have joined our Church in "singing the praises of the Essenes," -- but the Church didn't and Patrick hasn't. He has, however, read Ellen Harmon's account of her 1844 dream, and so will be able, having been to the Qumran ruins, to relate to what I'm going to write next.
"EARLY WRITINGS" page 14 "While I was praying at the family altar, the Holy Ghost fell upon me, and I seemed to be rising higher and higher, far above the Dark World. I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a voice said to me, "Look again, and look a little higher." At this I raised my eyes, and saw a straight and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this PATH (the Essenes called it a "WAY" or "The WAY") or more specifically "The WAY of the ESSENES".--MY COMMENTS, not those of E.G. White, who knew nothing of the ESSENES, never mentioned them, and no angel ever told her about them- RFH.
"On this PATH the Advent people were traveling to the CITY--" (The "CITY" was Qumran, where the monastery was considered to be a "Heaven on Earth" -- full of "Angels" not permitted to have marital relations while they lived there -- These were all "Male Angels" -- no females were allowed inside the monastery, because young females menstruate, and cannot accurately predict when this potential contamination may begin.They could, however, stand at the door and keep other unautherized people out, as Peter's "door-keeper" was doing the night of Christ's trial. "They had a BRIGHT LIGHT set up behind them at the beginning of the PATH (The beliefs and doctrines of the "WAY of the ESSENES" based on LIGHT, not DARKNESS." ---which an angel told me was the midnight cry. (since the "midnight cry" turned out to be FALSE -- Jesus didn't come as expected -- then this must have been a LYING ANGEL.) "This LIGHT shone all along the PATH (the "WAY of the ESSENES, based entirely on Good Works, specified in great and quite specific detail in the Dead Sea Scrolls)---and gave LIGHT for their feet so that they MIGHT NOT STUMBLE." As Ellen Whites visions and "Testimonies" gave LIGHT (about the "Good Works" we must do) for 44 years until 1888. "If they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, (and do things the way they knew He would do them) -- who was just before them, leading them to the city (to Qumran, the Essene "Heaven"), they were safe. But soon (44 years later, in 1888) some grew weary, and said the city was a great way off, and they expected to have entered it before. ---"
"Others (Waggoner and Jones) rashly denied the LIGHT BEHIND THEM (as being "Excessively Legalistic", and said that it was not God who had led them out so far." SO FAR OUT FROM THE "RIGHTEOUSNESS by FAITH in CHRIST ALONE" that ALL OTHER PROTESTANTS claimed was the only thing we all needed to LIVE IN HEAVEN FOREVER AND EVER. "The light behind them (the Essene WAY, based entirely on "Good Works" --went out, leaving their feet in PERFECT DARKNESS, and they stumbled and lost sight of the MARK and of (the Essene) JESUS, and fell of the PATH down into the dark and wicked world below." Begun in 1888 as the Alpha of Apostasy and completed in the 1950s as the Omega of Apostasy. (Again this last sentence is completely the OPINION of Dr. Robert Holt MD. Ellen White herself had little or no knowledge of WHAT would cause her fellow Adventists to "stumble" and "reject everything she had tried to teach them about "Good Works" for 44 years -- and return to a FALSE THEOLOGY based on "Roman Mithraism" and an Egyptian Trinity based on the Egyptian "gods" Osiris, Isis, and Horus. With some help from John Mark-Eutychus and the leader of the Qumran "Egyptian Therapautae" leader Nicodemus-Theudas.
