Dr. Ben Carson received a lot of unfavorable publicity early in his campaign to become President of the United States because of his stated belief that the Biblical story of Joseph son of Jacob was true, that there was indeed a 7-year famine in Egypt in the days of Joseph, and that one or several pyramids was connected in some way with the storage of grain supervised by Joseph.

     Genesis  41:1 "And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed, and behold, he stood by the river."

    2 "And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow."

    3 "And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river."

   ("Kine" is here the Old English term for cattle, -- bulls, steers, and cows -- nowadays we'd say "fat cows" and "lean or skinny cows".)

      4 "And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke."

     5 "And he slept and dreamed the second time: and behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good."

     6 "And behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them."

     7 "And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears.  And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream."

     8 "And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh."

     9 "Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:  10 Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker: -- "

     11 " And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream."

     12 "And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams, to each man according to his dream he did interpret."

    13 "And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged."

     14 "Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh."

    15 "And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it; and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it."

   16 "And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace."

    17 "And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river: 18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatleshed and well-favoured, and they fed in a meadow:  19 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:--"

     20 "And the lean and ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:  21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them, but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning.  So I awoke."

      22 "And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:  23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:  24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me."

      25 "And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed  what he is about to do."

     26 "The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one."

     27 "And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted by the east wind shall be seven years of famine."

     AGAIN, There's a certain correspondence here between this part of the "Joseph" story and what has happened in 2015 in Dr. Ben Carson's run for President.   The Democrats under 7 YEARS of a Democratic Obama Presidency are calling them seven very GOOD YEARS in which the country has gotten FAT and prosperous -- while the Republicans are calling these seven years a disaster that can only be remedied by electing a Republican President, one contender for this position being Dr. Ben Carson, the successful neurosurgeon, who has definite ideas about what it would take to make this country great again, both economically and politically. 

     But, partly because he is a Christian, and proposes solutions to some of the problems this country faces based on what he reads in the Bible, not what the LGBT coalition, and others now firmly in power in Washington has been promoting during these seven "lean years" (lean for the country but fat for them) they are scoffing at Dr. Carson's ability to actually be president of their (LGBT) country.  And indeed, were he to be elected, they may suffer some set-backs.

       Here Dr. Carson is being simplistic, and going against what most people in the general public now believe, it having been a part of the LBGT (Lesbian-Bisexual-Gay-Transexual) agenda for many years now that such people are not the way they are by CHOICE but because Biology (perhaps their DNA, perhaps their parental training as babies or children) has made them that way.  And they can't change either, so we can't change them, just tolerate them. Or APPLAUD them when they have the courage to "come out of the closet". However, having worked in a prison myself, "Great Meadow Prison" in Upstate New York as a nurse in the 1960s, I know that back then Homosexuals were segregated from the rest of the Prison population, and that there's some truth to what Dr. Carson is saying. A heavy influence is there that is not lost on those young people who are making up their mind and deciding what type of lifestyle they wish to pursue.  In prisons it is just a lot more obvious than it is outside of prison.

       Here Dr. Carson may or may not be looking for a way to gain the "conspiracy theory" vote but only stating the more obvious preference that all but Muslims in this country would find it truly devastating to live under Sharia Law, under which people are permanently disfigured (hands cut off) for a minor theft, stoned to death for adultery as a woman (but not as a man) and publically beheaded for major crimes -- and where religion-based laws are the law of the land.

     One of the Republican contenders for President in 2016 is Donald Trump, who spent an entire rally trying to convince Iowa residents (and the general public) that Dr. Ben Carson was a LIAR, and that he wrote many LIES into his best-selling books, and that only fools would vote for Ben Carson for President,  The PRESS took up this refrain, and have put TRUMP'S OPINIONS into the news almost exclusively since then, mostly ignoring Dr. Ben Carson's mostly Bible-based and GOOD-SENSE related solutions to this country's problems.

    MAD Magazine, always ready to make great FUN of anyone and anything, but especially ready to take on any POLITICAL target, has jumped on the idea that Dr. Ben Carson, the renowned Brain Surgeon perhaps has practically NO BRAIN AT ALL himself.  This is laughable of course when applied to a man with so many honorary degrees, but LAUGHS is what these people peddle, and how they earn their money.  If, in the process, they deprive this country of a superior president, and keep us all on a downward spiral ethically and economically -- WHAT'S IT TO THEM?
