train of
cars was shown me going with the speed of lightening.
The angel bade
me look carefully."
"I fixed my eyes upon the
train."

that the whole world was on board; that there could not be one

the angel, 'They are binding in bundles ready to burn."
"Then he showed me
the conductor, who appeared like a stately, fair person, whom all the
passengers looked up to and reverenced."
As
one would reverence God. Definitely not true of those paying attention in
the 1850s to "rapping", the Fox sisters, and to Spiritism.
"I was
perplexed, and asked my attending angel who it was. He said, 'It is Satan. He is the conductor in the form of an angel of light.
He has taken the world captive."
"They are given over to strong
delusions, to believe a lie, that they might be damned."

"This agent, the next highest in order to him, is the
engineer, and other of his agents are employed in different offices as he may
need them, and they are all going with lightning speed to perdition."

The Dream
Properly Interpreted
I believe I have
properly interpreted this dream of Ellen White's to apply to the topic
of "Trinitarianism", although Ellen White herself,
believed it applied to the topic of "Spiritualism" and
repeatedly cited the dream in regards to "Spiritualism". From
there she wandered farther afield of the real subject and discussed the
politics of Thomas Paine, who she was quite certain was a disciple of
the Devil and doomed to come up in the second resurrection and be
consumed in the "Lake of Fire".
Spiritualism has never been a great temptation to either Seventh-day
Adventists, nor yet the world at large, while on the other hand,
no
Adventists were Trinitarians when Ellen White had this dream, but after
her death, by the 1950s, millions of Adventists became
Trinitarians. The picture of Jesus in this dream exactly
matches the Trinitarian picture of
Christ, and negates Ellen's earlier
visions of Jesus as a human Jewish "High Priest". |
The "Little Company" that left the "Speeding
Train" of Trinitarianism
"All seemed to
be firmly united bound together by the truth, in bundles, or
companies."
"Said the angel, 'The
third angel (by
Adventists thought to be the teaching of the
Seventh-day Sabbath), is binding, or
sealing, them in bundles for the heavenly garner.'
"This little company, not
an apt description of 10 million+ Trinitarian Seventh-day Adventists, looked
care-worn, as if they had passed through severe trials and
conflicts. And it appeared as if the sun had just risen from
behind a cloud and shone upon their countenances, causing them to look
triumphant, as if their victories were nearly won."

The Dream
Improperly Interpreted to
apply to first, Spirit phenomena and Spiritualism, then more generally applied
to Faith Healing, Pentecostalism, Charismatic Preaching, Emotionalism in
Religion, and indeed on-and-on until only very staid and critical Adventists
are left all alone in their pews judging almost everyone in the religious
world but themselves as not "Children of God" trying to do their
best to follow God's Will but "Children of the Devil" on their way
to damnation and the "Lake of Fire."
Sadly, that's where a lot of Adventists still are
today, in October 1911, imagining all their neighbors are perched on the
edge of a "lake of fire", ready to be pushed in by the Devil
and his angels, dressed in the robes of Christ, and posing as
Pentecostal preachers, "Full Gospel" evangelists, and indeed
all preachers but Seventh-day Adventist preachers, and all Christians
who believe their late departed loved ones are in heaven and able in
some way to communicate with them. |

“--Satan
is now using every device in this
sealing
time to keep the minds of God’s people
from
the present truth and
to cause them to waver. I saw a
covering that God was drawing over His
people to protect
them in the time of trouble: and every soul that has
decided on the truth and was pure in heart was
to be covered with
the covering of the Almighty.”
Those not covered,
however [following pages] would be: those who paid attention to the New York
knockings - [Spiritualists - Christian Science - Unity - ARE Cayce’s
group - and other “New Age”],
those who listened to ministers who caused people to fall prostrate
and helpless [Pentecostal-Holiness], and those who used mesmerism [all
Meditation], and “affected people’s bodies” [Divine Healing of any
type].

"Satan
(the "adversary", the espouser of other religious views) knew
this (that God's people [Adventists] were "covered", "sealed"
[completely closed-minded and prejudiced in favor of their own "assigned
by God" beliefs]), and he was at work in mighty power (showing
that God was behind these other views also) to keep the minds of as many
people as he (the "adversary", the espouser of other religious
views) possibly could wavering and unsettled on the "truth"
(as taught by those Adventists who listened carefully and closed-mindedly to
Ellen G. White). I saw that the mysterious knocking in New York and other
places was the power of Satan ( the "adversary", the espouser
of other religious views), and that such things would be more and more common,
clothed in a religious garb (because God had planned it to be so) so as
to lull the deceived (the other "deceived" besides
Adventism's own specified and assigned "deceptions") to greater
security (their "security" not depending on utter confidence in
Ellen White's words being directly from God Almighty and infaliable), and to
draw the minds of God's people (this term is used in the sense that "only
Adventists are God's people", everyone else are the "Devil's
people".), if possible (difficult with this "covering", this
"sealing" of prejudice and closed-mindedness), to those things (
Spiritualists - Christian Science - Unity - ARE Cayce’s
group - and other “New Age”,
those who listened to ministers who caused people to fall prostrate
and helpless [Pentecostal-Holiness], and those who used mesmerism [all
Meditation], and “affected people’s bodies” [Divine Healing of any
type] -- and cause them ("God's people,
the Adventists) to doubt the teachings and power of the Holy Ghost (the
"Holy Ghost" speaking, of course, through only one person, Ellen
G. White.)"
"I saw that Satan
((the "adversary", the espouser of
other religious views) was working through agents in a number of ways.
He was at work through ministers who have rejected the truth
(the religious views taught by Ellen White and the Adventists) and are given
over to strong delusions (other than Adventism's own peculiar assigned
"delusions") to believe a lie (most specifically the Trinity
Lie invented by the Council of Nicea at Constantine's command) that they
might be damned."
"Damned" here is not meant in the sense that Ellen White and the
group that was reading or listening to these words in the 1850s and 1860s
would imagine it to mean, assigned to be burned up in the lake of fire --
-- but
instead in the sense that those no longer depending on the life-changes Ellen
would be suggesting for the next 40 years or more, would be
"damned", IE, "fated" to endure the same emotional and
medical problems and conditions that all other Christians would experience,
believing instead that "God", the Trinitarian Jesus, would protect
them from these emotional and medical problems through faith (without works)
in his power to do so.

"While
they (the other preachers controlled by the "adversary", the
espouser of other religious views) were preaching or praying, some would fall
prostrate and helpless (as Ellen White herself had fallen "prostrate and
helpless" during her own earlier visions), not by the power of the
Holy Ghost, but by the power of Satan (the "adversary",
the espouser of other religious views), breathed upon these agents (referring
back to the "agents" in her "speeding train" dream),
and through them to the people."
"While
preaching, praying, or conversing, some professed Adventists who had rejected
present truth used mesmerism ("hypnotism", directed
meditation techniques) to gain adherents, and the people would rejoice in
this influence, for they thought it was the Holy Ghost. Some even
that used it were so far in the darkness and deception of the devil that they
thought it was the power of God, given them to exercise. They had
made of God altogether such a one as themselves and had valued His power (here
meant to be Ellen White's teachings, and only Ellen White's teachings)
as a thing of nought."
This
particular paragraph of "Early Writings" page 44 as a prophecy had
it's ultimate fulfillment in the later "Celebration" movement in
Adventism, of which Foster Church, the church I attend regularly, is the local
(Ashville, NC) major example. During the General Conference "reign"
of Robert Folkenberg, "Celebration Churches" among the churches in
the Carolina Conference were encouraged, and "celebration
techniques" were taught by favored associates of Robert Folkenberg.
Indeed, the very "mesmerism" techniques described so graphically
here by Ellen White a full 120 or so years before Folkenberg's 9+ years as
General Conference president were taught and used in local Carolina Conference
churches.

Adventists
placed in a
Hypnotic Trance by
Jesus
The very
group of people that repeatedly accused Ellen Harmon as a teenager of having
visions as the result of hypnotic suggestion ("Mesmerism" it was
called in those days) was later convinced by one of Ellen White's dreams,
followed by more specific written instructions by her, to become so
"hypnotized" themselves that virtually the whole church nowadays
remains impervious to any new religious ideas or instructions.
Indeed those who claim to be in the camp of the "Three Angels" are
sleeping so soundly that the idea that there are 4 more angels in this series
will appear to be totally new and strange to them, even if one were to point
each one out to them in their individual Bibles.

44 (last paragraph)
"Satan (the "adversary" and espouser of new religious
ideas not sanctioned by a now long-dead Ellen G. White) was trying (in Ellen's
visions) his every art to hold them (the wavering Adventists) where they were
(undecided), until the sealing (an attitude of permanent prejudice and
closed-mindedness) was past (forever accomplished), until the covering
(another term describing this prejudice and closed-mindedness) was drawn
over God's people, (Seventh-day Adventists, and Seventh-day Adventists only),
and it will soon (before 1945) be drawn over all who are to have a shelter in
the day of slaughter (the Word Wars and the Jewish holocaust). God
will work in power for His people (now the Jews, not Adventists);
and Satan (the espouser of religious views neither Ellen White's nor
Adventist) will be permitted to work also."
