Patty and Dr. Bob's UFO Encounter of Nov. 27, 2010

*MIND TRIP Series*

Part II

CLOUD-SHAPING

Earlier on October 28, 2010

Coming Home from a Trip to Ontario, Canada on November 28, 2010, Patty Peffer and I had done some Cloud Shaping as we traveled on US 23 through western Kentucky, mainly causing clouds to disappear by staring at them intently.  They were raggedy wispy little clouds, and we "disposed" of several of them quite easily with the power of our superior minds and powerful eyes..

Reaching Johnson City, Tennessee, about dark, we ran into a road-paving crew busily at work improving Interstate 26 up the mountain to the North Carolina border. We soon found ourselves behind a truck with a huge "bowl-shaped" sign which reminded us both of a UFO.

Patty and I noticed right away the resemblance of the large white-lit sign on the truck to a UFO -- and after a few minutes of following the truck in the dark, I said to Patty, jokingly of course ---"Look, Patty, that UFO is carrying off the construction truck!"  She laughed, a bit nervously, and said -- "You're right!" --"That's exactly what's happening!" There's a perfectly "Normal" explanation for this verbal interchange -- since for the last several hours before this encounter with the pace truck with the strangely shaped sign Patty and I had been talking about UFOs -- and jokingly proposed if we talked about one long enough, perhaps one would "manifest" itself as we watched. And indeed it seemed one had appeared.

What Patty and I "saw" on Interstate 26 in Tennessee!

Either Before or After this "Close Encounter" (of a seemingly quite ordinary kind) Patty and I had also discussed an experience her and I had had on "Brown Mountain" in West-Central North Carolina where we had another "mind trip" involving real or imaginary UFOs.

Ellen Harmon's unusual dreams and what some called "visions" of December, 1844, others called hysteria, self-hypnosis, and some even called "Devil Possession".  These may have, of course, been quite similar in cause, and even in experience, to those Patty Pfeffer and I had experienced on this trip and on the "Brown Mountain" adventure.

Before these visions, Ellen Harmon was a sickly girl who had suffered a tragic childhood accident in which another child, a bully, threw a large rock at her, causing unconsciousness and a coma. Some have credited this "brain damage" with her later "visions".  Ellen became very religious, and prayed a lot.

Ellen Lost Consciousness of the world around her during these experiences -- many of which occurred during public meetings in which a lot of other people were watching her, and praying, and singing songs. Some were also having "visions" of their own.

Ellen's visions often began with the sensation of flying -- a typical dream experience of many of us.

An Early "Pentecostal"-It seems obvious to those of us now who have had "Pentecostal- type" experiences that the youthful Ellen Harmon was having, in those early years in the early 1840s, typical "Holy- Ghost" possessions which resulted in unconsciousness and exotic dreams and mind- experiences.  What was unusual in her case was that such experiences did not become common until 100 years later, in the 1950s and onward.    No "Pentecostal" today would question Ellen Harmon's visions.

Back now to Patty and my trip of November 28, 2010. --- I will now relate how I showed Patty earlier in the day my apparent ability to "shape" clouds (mostly make them disappear) by staring at them intently as we rode along in her Subaru "Tribeca" (which she has appropriately named "Luke Skywalker".

I would pick out a cloud plainly visible to both of us in the blue sky ahead of the speeding car, and say-- "Patty, look at that cloud ahead, --There by the mountain-top. The little fuzzy one that looks like a (deer, cow, or whatever) -- I'm going to make it disappear by staring at it!"  She'd say, I see it, -- I'm watching!"  And lo and behold, as we drove along, soon that cloud would start to dissolve and often would be gone in a few seconds.   At first quite surprised at my "ability" -- she soon became quite skeptical.   "Perhaps," said she, "The cloud would have disappeared even if you had not stared at it."  Then, "It only seems to work with a certain type of cloud!" My DISCIPLE had soon become my CRITIC ---

When any person "sees" a cloud in the sky that looks like the one pictured here at the right end (over the smaller tree) several possibilities come to mind, depending how religious (or naive) the observer's past or upbringing may be.

Some will see right away an attempt by someone to fool the public ---

Some will see humor at play, and a dark, unapproved type of humor at that!

Some will admit that such a cloud could indeed exist, saying if it did, and this is a genuine photograph, then "coincidence" explains it completely.

Some, if they indeed saw such a cloud themselves, and had prayed earnestly to God or Jesus for a "sign" or for guidance in a problem they were dealing with, would feel that God or Jesus had sent them an answer!

(Not perhaps the "answer" they are looking for, but an "answer" none-the-less!)

Ellen Harmon's early visions may fit in any of these categories, so let's cut her a little slack, and not "blame" them on "Devil Possession", self-hypnosis, epileptic fits, a studied attempt to fool the public, intentional misuse or "stealing" of other people's visions or writings, or any number of other causes, real or imaginary.

As the result of these visions -- obvious and real results -- we have in this world many medical institutions and hospitals -- an emphasis on "Health Reform" that might otherwise not have existed or reached the importance it now has -- a world-wide church of people known as Seventh-day Adventists -- 16 million + of them -- and millions of others "waiting" for a literal return of Jesus Christ (some in a "Secret Rapture") -- and people in third-world countries who are improving their lives and social position by utilizing Adventist educational institutions.

....Loma Linda University Medical School, where I myself graduated with two degrees, one in Medicine (MD) and one in "Health Education" (MPH) was (partly at least) the results of one or more of Ellen Harmon White's many visions (or if you prefer, daydreams, "fits", or episodes of "Devil Possession).
