Ellen G. White "Stumbles" in 1898

Oops! A Major Barrier to My Fellow

Seventh-day Adventist “Scholars”

Ellen G. White, when she wrote in Desire of Ages (Published in 1898): Page 49 “It would have been  an almost infinite humiliation for the Son of God to take man’s nature, even when Adam stood in his innocence in Eden.  But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by four thousand years of sin.” (I as a doctor, assume she’s talking about DNA here, besides family training and social influences, and my assumption is immediately confirmed by E.G. White’s next sentence.) Like every child of Adam He accepted the results of the working of the great law of heredity.”

(Here, even non-doctors are well aware that the “law of heredity” is a game of chance in which a human sperm from a male human being competes with other human sperm from that same male penis during sexual intercourse to reach a waiting human egg who entirely by chance happens to be the one at the proper place and time of month is ready to be fertilized. )(To duplicate all of these various factors and circumstances without sexual intercourse and the circumstances, emotional and otherwise, that resulted on this chance encounter at this precise moment in time would require a vastly complicated calculation on the part of the Holy Spirit resulting in an artificial insemination whose only purpose, it would seem, would be to keep the “virgin Mary” still a virgin physically after she was impregnated) (Very important it seems to later Roman Catholics, but apparently of lesser importance to Ellen White and her church.)

What these results were is shown in the history of His earthly ancestors.”  (Ellen is here hinting, in my opinion, at Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus in Matthew chapter 1, which includes verse 3: “And Judas (Judah) begat Phares and Zara of Thamar: --“ His widowed daughter-in-law who played a whore to seduce him and get pregnant with Jesus’ ancestor – and verse 5 “And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; --“ The Jericho prostitute whose life was spared because she hid the Jewish spies – “and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; -- “Ruth” got her own book included in the Bible after she “tempted” Boaz by creeping into his sleeping-bag one night while she knew he was thoroughly intoxicated.  –and verse 6 “And Jesse begat David the king: and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias:--“ Which should bring to mind that famous scene of Bathsheba taking a bath for an audience of one who was not her husband (yet).

“He came here with such a heredity (the heredity that Matthew has described so aptly) to share our sorrows and temptations, and to give us the example of a sinless (but not necessarily celibate) life.”

Hoping to find Ellen White’s comments on the meeting between Elizabeth, wife of Zacharias the priest at “5-6 months” in the “hill country of Juda”, I discovered that Ellen gave this meeting no coverage in her book Desire of Ages, and also was not interested, it seems, that Mary at this time had a house of her own to return to after “3 months” (Luke 1:56).  So we’ll only charge Ellen here with inattention to details (or lack of a vision).  But it also seems to have totally escaped her that if Joseph had older sons than Jesus (the subject of much of Desire of Ages  chapter 9 “Days of Conflict”), that one of these sons must have been Joseph’s “first-born son” other than Jesus, and the whole of Luke 2:22-24 is either unnecessary, or without a proper explanation by Luke.

I suspect that Luke was right, both in giving details that Ellen White has overlooked, and also in his later book, Acts, by letting us know some of the later history of Jesus’ younger (not older) brothers.  In a devious, partly hidden fashion, to be sure, but Luke and Jesus, partners in the writing of this book, I believe wanted to allow the early Christian Church those delusions so dear to that Church’s heart.

And they, Luke and Jesus, evidently also decided to allow the Adventist Church in 1998, when Desire of Ages  was published, to share in the doctrinal errors of the Roman Catholic Church, whose “Trinitarian Delusion” they were beginning at that time to pursue. So now we, as Adventists, can worship, if we wish to, both an immaculately conceived Jesus, and along with our Catholic “brothers and sisters”, an immaculately conceived Mary, “Queen of Heaven”, and “Mother of God".
