Matthew 24: Page 14

MAY 14, 15: 1948

MATTHEW 24 was dictated by the Essene Jesus in 33 AD: Verse 30: “And then shall appear the sign of the [Jewish ] Son of man in heaven: for then shall all the [ Arab ] tribes of the earth mourn, and they [ the
Arabs and the world] shall see the [ Jewish Jesus, the] Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”  [ see this by what He has allowed to happen -- the REBIRTH of Israel!]
Verse 31 “ And he  shall send his angels  with the sound of a great trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds
from one end of heaven to the other.”

JESUS  in March of 33 AD was making, we can now be quite certain, a different prophecy to each of 4 different groups of people, each with their own hopes --

Each with their own ideas of what should occur at the "End of the "Age of Pisces" and the beginning of the "Age of Aquarius."

On August  6, 1945, the Atomic Bombs (2 suns, the VOICE of GOD, the SOUND of a TRUMPET) had made it possible for the prophecy to be fulfilled to the JEWS (the ELECT)

May 14, 1948 was a day of great celebration for the Jewish population of Israel.  Over the years since the end of World War II  in Europe refugees had been streaming in far in excess of the quota imposed by the British.   Smuggled in by boats, such as the one made famous in the famous “Exodus” movie.  And by other means as well.
Israel’s Independence

David Ben-Gurion, later elected Prime Minister, gave a speech to a crowd in Tel Aviv declaring the Independence of Israel.

Chaim Weizman was elected the first President of Israel. The world held it’s breath, wondering how the Arab nations would respond.

ISAIAH 66:8

THE FIG TREE

Matthew 24:32 "Now hear a parable of the FIG TREE; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:--"

Jesus made several other sayings about Fig Trees in the Gospels which modern Evangelical preachers have used to try to determine what Jesus meant by using this term in his long prophecy about the End of the Age.

Whatever point Jesus is making in these other sayings and parables about Fig Trees, in this particular saying or parable in Matthew 24 it seems quite clear to all interpreters that the Fig Tree stands for Israel itself, and the tender branches and the new leaves stand for the events of May 14-15, 1948, in which Israel was able (with UN support) declare themselves a nation once more.    The "summer is nigh" is not nearly as clear in its meaning -- allowing anyone to interpret it according to their own desires and agenda -----

33 "So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors."
To Christians, beginning perhaps as early as  March 33 AD, "it" is here some type of return of Jesus Christ to this world -- the assumption being that he left this world to "sit on the right had of his Father" assumed to be living in "heaven" (wherever that may be).

To Millerites in 1844, and Seventh-day Adventists after that, this is imagined as being a literal catastrophic event.

34 "Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."
Again, this is thought by most or all interpreters to refer to the events of May 14, 15, 1948 when Israel declared itself (with UN support) to be a new independent and sovereign nation -- How many years make up a generation? This is  open to conjecture.

"All these things" is also open to conjecture.

And once again, to Millerites in 1844, and to Seventh-day Adventists after that, this is imagined as being a literal catastrophic event ---"the end of our present world as we know it!

35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
Because Fundamentalist Christians of all sorts and all denominations have not known and even now refuse to consider that the Essenes were behind these predictions, and that the Essenes were astrologers, they have all (but particularly so the Millerites and then the Seventh-day Adventists, have not seen "heaven and earth" here as being symbolic and astrological.

Taking "heaven and earth" to be literal, they assume that our present earth will be literally destroyed, and with it, our atmosphere ("heaven"). Of course they exclude the "heaven" where God lives, this being too ridiculous to even contemplate!

To those who refuse to see this phrase in astrologic and symbolic terms, then we are left with some sort of oath by Jesus -- unable to swear by God's Name by Jewish religious law and custom that this prophetic claim is true not false, Jesus uses instead heaven and earth as surety.

36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

All or at least most of the "problems" that trouble us as we read these words disappear once we know that the Essenes were astrologers and that Jesus himself was an Essene.  The "angels in heaven" were the Essenes in their Qumran monastery.  Any estimate of a date when one Zodiac Age ends and another Zodiac Age begins cannot be pinned down by even the best astrologers on earth.  A year might be guessed at -- but a "day" and an "hour" is, of course, totally improbable.

That Jesus' Father (in heaven) would know (the day and the hour) is a hint to the identity of the One who Jesus considered to be his Father in Heaven, but this is too early in this discussion to get into that.

Back now to the "Fig Tree" saying, and the "this generation" saying, Evangelical preachers were able to connect these two in an ingenious fashion and estimate an exact date for Jesus to return, much as  the Millerites had done on October 22, 1844.   Ignoring, once again, the warning against attempting this in Matthew 24:36.
