THE
FIG TREE
Matthew 24:32 "Now
hear a parable of the FIG TREE; When his branch is yet tender, and
putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:--"
|
Jesus made several other
sayings about Fig Trees in the Gospels which modern
Evangelical preachers have used to try to determine what Jesus
meant by using this term in his long prophecy about the End
of the Age. |
Whatever point Jesus is
making in these other sayings and parables about Fig Trees,
in this particular saying or parable in Matthew 24 it
seems quite clear to all interpreters that the Fig Tree stands
for Israel itself, and the tender branches and the
new leaves stand for the events of May 14-15, 1948, in
which Israel was able (with UN support) declare
themselves a nation once more. The
"summer is nigh" is not nearly as clear in its
meaning -- allowing anyone to interpret it according to their
own desires and agenda ----- |
33 "So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is
near, even at the doors."
To Christians,
beginning perhaps as early as March 33 AD,
"it" is here some type of return of Jesus Christ
to this world -- the assumption being that he left this world
to "sit on the right had of his Father" assumed to
be living in "heaven" (wherever that may be).
To Millerites in 1844, and Seventh-day
Adventists after that, this is imagined as being a literal
catastrophic event. |
|
34 "Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these
things be fulfilled."
|
Again, this is thought by
most or all interpreters to refer to the events of May 14,
15, 1948 when Israel declared itself (with UN
support) to be a new independent and sovereign nation -- How
many years make up a generation? This is open
to conjecture.
"All these things" is
also open to conjecture.
And once again, to Millerites in
1844, and to Seventh-day Adventists after that, this is
imagined as being a literal catastrophic event ---"the
end of our present world as we know
it! |

"UNBELIEVING" SPIES

Numbers 13:1 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Send thou men,
that they may search the land of Canaan, which I gave unto the
children of Israel of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a
man, every one a ruler among them.
3 And Moses by the
commandment of the Lord sent them from the wilderness of Paran:
all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
17 And Moses
sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get
you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
18 And see
the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein,
whether they be strong or weak, few or many:---"
23 And
they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a
branch with one cluster of grapes,
and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought
of the pomegranates,
and of the FIGS.
25 And they
returned from searching of the land after forty
days.
27 And they
told him, and said, We came unto the land wither thou sentest us,
and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit
of it.
28
Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the
cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the
children of Anak there.
30 And Caleb
stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once,
and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the
men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up
against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 And they
brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto
the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have
gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants
thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great
stature-- 33 ---and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers,
---"
CHAPTER 14
2
And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against
Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we
had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this
wilderness!
26
And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, ---
28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have
spoken in my ears, so will I do to you:
29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were
numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years
old and upward, which have murmured against me,
30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I
sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneth,
and Joshua the son of Nun.
33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty
years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted
in the wilderness.
34 After the number of the
days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a
year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall
know my breach of promise." |
|
William Miller had
used Numbers 14:33, 34 to "enable" him to predict
that Jesus would return in 1844
(a day equals a year)
(40 days equals 40 years)
Now 104 years after 1844, other
would-be prophets used Numbers 14:33, 34 to make a (wicked)
generation to equal 40 years! |
THE SECOND (WICKED)
GENERATION
ISRAEL OF JESUS' TIME
THE (BARREN)
FIG TREE
The would-be prophets after Israel
became a nation in 1948 were as adept at searching their Bibles for
precedents as was William Miller and they discovered the example of Jesus
cursing a barren fig tree.
Matthew 21:17 "And he
(Jesus) left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he
lodged there.
18 "Now
in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
19 "And
when he saw a FIG TREE in the way, he came to it, and found nothing
thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it , Let
no fruit grow on it henceforth for ever. And presently the
fig tree withered away.
20 'And
when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig
tree withered away! |
|
|
The would-be prophets
had what they needed!
Jesus had cursed a fig tree shortly before he was crucified with the
Jewish chief priests and scribes crying out "Let him be
crucified! fThis
cursing of the Fig Tree (Israel) had occurred in 33 AD, exactly 40
years before the fall of Masada in 73 AD. Another
40 year (wicked) generation of israel!
THE
THIRD WICKED GENERATION
THE NEW NATION
OF ISRAEL
which began on
may 14, 15, 1948 Would
it last exactly 40 years as had the wandering in the wilderness of
Numbers 14: 33, 34?
And as the Jews of
Jesus' day that endured for exactly 40 years before they lost their
last military outpost at Masada?
Was Jesus predicting
that this THIRD GENERATION of Israel would again last exactly 40
years, as the first two generations lasted? Assuming
this would be the case, they, the would-be prophets, like William
Miller had before them, did a little elementary school arithmetic
and came up with a date --
September 11, 12, or
13 of 1988. Up to that date assumed to be a certain date
for Jesus to return. Now they went to work examining the
manner in which Jesus would return Rejecting
the language and reasoning of the Millerites and Seventh-day
Adventists, the relatively new Eschatology of the "SECRET
RAPTURE" was developed.
34 "Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these
things be fulfilled."
|
To JEWS around the WORLD,
God (Yahweh) had now shown His mercy and justice -- and at
long last, fulfilled His promises to His "chosen
people". This by the events of May 14,
15, 1948 when Israel declared itself (with UN
support) to be a new independent and sovereign nation.
But to Christian ministers, evangelists,
and writers, Christians are still God's elect.
And although God is again helping the Jews, this will only
last for 40 years. And in September 11, 12,
and 13 of 1988, Christ will return to take his true
children, the Christians, to heaven.! |

24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words
shall not pass away.'
