The Invention of the Devil

The Devil

because in two of the Gospels,

Matthew and Luke,

detailed accounts are given of

Jesus' Temptations by him!

Matthew4:1 "Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered."

3 "And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."

4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

5 "Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."

7 "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

8 "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceedingly high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me."

10 "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 And the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him."

Now the clue that even though he was fasting in the wilderness, all the rest of these temptations were in Jesus' mind, in his imagination, was the last one, it being physically impossible for him to see all the kingdoms of the world from one spot in a few moments.

And so it is with the rest of the encounters between Jesus and Satan throughout the Gospels. On closer inspection "Satan" is Simon Peter, when Peter says in Matthew 16:22 "Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee,"-- when Jesus says he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from his enemies.

And "Satan" is Judas Iscariot in Luke 22:3 when he decided to go tell the priests and their soldiers where Jesus could be found after the Lord's Supper. Yet in many of his parables and sayings Jesus talks about "Satan" as if he is an independent and powerful person or entity, the leader of the forces of evil.

Originally in the Jewish Religion, God (Jehovah-Yahweh) is responsible for everything that happens to everyone, be it GOOD or BAD. But by the time of Jesus and the ESSENES, it became possible, even popular to blame "Satan" for everything that is wrong or goes wrong, And that's still the case today. Long before Judaism in general made this switch, the Persians had done this under the teaching of a Prophet named Zoroaster. It was Zoroaster that although technically he did not invent "Satan", he thought through and preached a DUALIST PHILOSOPHY that allows FREE WILL CHOICE. This allowed the idea of Satan, one with great power that tempts mankind to choose EVIL, to develop.

ZOROASTER

"In the Gathas, Zoroaster sees the human condition as the mental struggle between aša (truth) and druj (lie). The cardinal concept of aša—which is highly nuanced and only vaguely translatable—is at the foundation of all Zoroastrian doctrine, including that of Ahura Mazda (who is aša), creation (that is aša), existence (that is aša) and as the condition for Free Will.

The purpose of humankind, like that of all other creation, is to sustain aša. For humankind, this occurs through active participation in life and the exercise of constructive thoughts, words and deeds.

Zoroaster emphasized the freedom of the individual to choose right or wrong and individual responsibility for one's deeds. This personal choice to accept aša or arta (the divine order), and shun druj (ignorance and chaos) is one's own decision and not a dictate of Ahura Mazda. For Zarathustra (Zoroastra), by thinking good thoughts, saying good words, and doing good deeds (e.g. assisting the needy or doing good works) we increase this divine force aša or arta in the world and in ourselves, celebrate the divine order, and we come a step closer on the everlasting road to being one with the Creator. Thus, we are not the slaves or servants of Ahura Mazda, but we can make a personal choice to be his co-workers, thereby refreshing the world and ourselves."

OR (Dr. Bob Holt) Choose to not be slaves of Ahura Mazda, but be slaves or servants of the opposite force or influence, that of darkness or evil. Nowadays attributed to SATAN.

Genesis 1:26

"And GOD said (a person NOT a Robot) let US MAKE MAN in OUR IMAGE, after OUR LIKENESS, and let them ( the manufactured images who look like GODS) have DOMINION over the fish of the sea, and over the cattle, and over ALL THE EARTH, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon THE EARTH."

“So GOD CREATED (manufactured, made with his hands, not birthed as his sons and daughters) MAN (THE ROBOTS) in his OWN IMAGE, in the IMAGE of GOD created (manufactured not birthed) HE them, male and female created he them."

"And GOD blessed them, and God said unto them (VOICE-ACTIVATED ROBOTS), BE FRUITFUL and MULTIPLY, and REPLENTISH THE EARTH, and SUBDUE IT (CONQUOR IT); and HAVE DOMINION over the fish of the sea, and over the fowls of the air, and over every living thing that creepeth upon the EARTH. (but not over US, the God or Gods who created you!)"

HOWEVER, because Eve, then ADAM, decided to listen to and then follow the instructions of SATAN, not God and later Jesus, we, the humans, have become Satan's Robots, producing other Robots for Satan to control!

Genesis 1:29-30

“And GOD said, Behold, I have given you (MY ROBOTS) every herb bearing SEED (a self-replicating ENERGY SUPPLY) which is upon the face of all the EARTH, and EVERY TREE (structural building materials), in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding SEED; to you it shall be for meat."

"And to every BEAST of the EARTH, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the EARTH, wherein there is LIFE (INTELLIGENCE and the ABILITY to MOVE and REPLICATE), I have given every GREEN HERB for meat; and it was so."

Along comes SATAN, and hacks into the Software that controls our Human Appetites, and now we continuously CRAVE Meat, especially PORK and Sausage and Big Macs, and also, you guessed it CHOCOLATE!

Genesis 1:31

“And GOD saw EVERY THING that HE HAD MADE, and, behold, it was VERY GOOD. And the evening and the morning were the SIXTH DAY. (AND IT DIDN'T TAKE VERY LONG TO MAKE IT ALL EITHER -- LESS THAN A WEEK!)"

However, once God turned his back (so to speak) his little ROBOTS were poking all their money into Cigarette Machines (until they were removed from the streets).

Genesis 2:2-3

"And on the SEVENTH DAY GOD ended his WORK which he had MADE (manufactured, crafted, not birthed as sons and daughters), and he RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY form all his WORK which he had MADE."

"And GOD BLESSED the SEVENTH DAY and SANCTIFIED IT:

"because that in it he RESTED from all his WORK which GOD CREATED and MADE."

ZOROASTER,

ZOROASTER, who is credited by the Greeks and some later scholars as being one of the earliest MAGI and making various Astrological observations may be (according to some) one of the first to promote a 7 DAY WEEK, based on seven planets (including our moon as a "planet").

The MAGI of Persia and Babylon were still making accurate calculations and predictions at the time of Jesus' birth..

Deuteronomy 28:1

“And it shall come to pass. if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the VOICE of the LORD thy GOD, to OBSERVE and TO DO all his COMMANDMENTS which I (MOSES) COMMAND thee THIS DAY, that the Lord thy GOD will SET THEE ON HIGH above all the nations of the EARTH:--"

7 "The Lord shall cause thine ENEMIES that rise up against thee to be SMITTEN before thy face: they shall come out against you ONE WAY, and FLEE before thee SEVEN WAYS."

9,10 "The LORD (Yahweh, Jehovah, Allah) shall establish thee an HOLY PEOPLE unto himself, as he has sworn unto THEE, If thou shalt keep THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD thy GOD, and WALK IN HIS WAYS." (and being ROBOTS, what else, really, can you DO?)
