If you Believe on Me (Jesus Christ) You'll Never Die if you live until My Second Coming!
Which makes the TIME of my SECOND COMING very important to those living near that TIME who were counting on NOT DYING as I promised Martha!
BESIDES SETTING THE CONDITIONS OF BEHAVIOR I SET IN JOHN 3:18-21, I HINTED AT THESE FURTHER CONDITIONS OF TIME AND AN EVENT IN JOHN 14.
"I will come again!" John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God (Jehovah-Yahweh) believe also in me (the Son of God, Jesus Christ). 2 "In my Fathers HOUSE (referring to both TIME and SPACE, not an actual building made of brick or stone and morter) are many MANSIONS (this can now refer to this second meaning, buildings, houses, very nice houses): If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a PLACE for you." Since both MEANINGS have now been mentioned as a possibility, this PLACE can be either a TIME or buildings like a house or city --- or BOTH! 3 "And if I go and prepare a PLACE for you, I will come again, (to the group of Essenes he was talking to, not to us, 2000 years in his future), and recieve you (his fellow Essenes) unto myself, that where I am (in the 19th and 20th centuries), there ye (the first century Essenes) may be also." REAL PREDICTION: A rebirth of Essene theology (the theology of John 3:18-21) in the 19th and 20th century. Seventh-day Adventists fulfilled this prophecy in the 19th century, but grew tired of Essene Theology, and most of them relapsed into standard Nicene Creed Theology in the 20th century, rejoining what Ellen White labeled as "Nominal Christianity". 4 "And whither I go ye know, (his audience was composed of Astrologers, so they knew he was talking of TIME and SPACE), and the WAY ye know. (The "Way" was the word used by the Essenes to refer to their own theology and predictions) 5 "Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest (true, the only way to know the FUTURE is to live in it), and how can we know the WAY?" (Now the more conventional meaning of "Way" -- and of course the only way that anyone can know the future, besides living in it, is to talk to someone who has "been there and done that". 6 "Jesus saith unto him, "I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Enter William Miller, the Numerologist!
While promising the Millerites of the 1830's-1840s Eternal Life: "Immortality" It was only on the CONDITION of belief in a Soon-Coming Jesus Christ as their Savior: "Conditional" And initially, it was offered by the self-taught Baptist evangelist William Miller with no other CONDITIONS other than standard Christian Belief in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Being Ready to Accept Miller's Calculations and "Message" that the World was Ending!
William Miller, a Deist originally became a Baptist Christian because he could not bear the thought of dying with no hope of living on after death -- something that Baptist Christianity could offer him that Deism could not, was a hope in "CONDITIONAL IMMORTALITY" (if one believes and obeys the REQUIREMENTS of the CHRISTIAN GOSPEL)
During self-directed Bible Study he discovered Daniel 8:13-14 in which one saint is asking another saint "HOW LONG" it will be before the SANCTUARY will be cleansed. "---Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed." Studying on in his Bible, William Miller, a farmer by vocation, found other texts he interpreted as giving a beginning date for this implied calculation -- 457 BC, a decree by Artaxerxes to rebuild Jerusalem, and a day for a year principle supported by several Bible proiphets.
With a simple bit of arithmetic any school-boy could manage, Miller decided that 457 BC ADDED TO 2300 YEARS (NOT DAYS) equaled 1843 AD. When nothing happened in the Spring of 1843 his rather large group of followersr by then realized they had to add one more year to make up for the MISSING YEAR between 1 BC and 1 AD, and that the DAY of Atonement (October 22, 1844) was a more likely date for the JEWISH GOD JEHOVAH and his JEWISH SON JESUS to appear in the sky over LOW HAMPTON, VERMONT, where Miller and a crowd of his TRUE BELIEVERS were waiting!
If, indeed, the event pictured above had happened on that date, I would not be posting this page on the internet in January of 2015. Indeed, I would not have been born. But Miller's "Message" with numerous "adjustments" has lived on, as has the fascination of many with the subject of Biblical NUMEROLOGY.
A young girl in 1844, Ellen Harmon by name, started having visions in that year that explained to her satisfaction and the satisfaction of many others since then, WHAT WENT WRONG (OR RIGHT) with William Miller's calculations and message. One of these visions revealed that Jesus was indeed COMING BACK SOON, but meanwhile he was serving God in the position of a JEWISH HIGH PRIEST in a HEAVENLY SANCTUARY patterned after a similar SANCTUARY that used to be located in the wilderness while Israel was fleeing Egypt on their way to Canaan.
Jesus in this vision revealed to Ellen (now married to the Millerite preacher James White) that those waiting for his delayed "Second Coming" should keep THE SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH which the newly-married Ellen White was already doing by the time she received this vision. Over the next 40 years she received many more visions and thousands of pages of "TESTIMONIES TO THE CHURCH" The "Holt Children" believed all this to be true, on a Utah farm

John 3:16 "For God so loved the WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting LIFE." John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the WORLD to condemn the WORLD; but that the WORLD through him might be SAVED."
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned:-- " Condemned to what? Many other texts well known only to Adventists!
CONDEMNED TO BURNING UP IN A "LAKE OF FIRE"! "but he that BELIEVETH NOT is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the NAME of the only begotten Son of God." Revelation 20:14 "And DEATH and HELL were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death."
16 "And whosoever was not found written in the BOOK of LIFE was cast into the Lake of Fire."
