JESUS CHRIST AS .MR. SANDMAN.

"REINCARNATION"

Another well-kept secret of mine (among Christians) is that I,

 (Jesus Christ)

besides promoting belief in a resurrection from the dead,

also promoted belief in reincarnation!

"Whom do men say that I am?"

Matthew 16:13 "And when Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?"

14 "And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets."

One of several meanings that can be given to Jesus' question here, and to the various answers given to the question by various listeners is that he was dealing with people who believed in Reincarnation.

That a person after living a normal life and dying, could later be reborn as another person, and live another entire lifetime with a new name or identity, experiencing new events, thinking new thoughts, making new decisions, and dying again later -- to be possibly reborn again later yet as perhaps a third (or 4th or 5th etc. person) to the limits of one's imagination.

Such a person would indeed become immortal in the sense that some part of an original person, who lived a long time ago is still alive and conscious, although perhaps having little or no recollection of what this person experienced in previous lifetimes.

Mark 8:27 "And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?"

28 "And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say Elias; and others, One of the Prophets."

Luke 9:18 "And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with himn: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

19 "They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again."

Only Luke makes it clear that one of the possible meanings of this exchange is that Jesus is a reincarnation of "one of the old prophets".  He's using the term "risen again" that we usually use to describe "resurrection from the dead" but just a little thought on this subject betrays the real meaning.  If Jesus was a resurrected John the Baptist, people would certainly recognize his manner, his subject material, and his actions as being those of John the Baptist, because John the Baptist had only recently died, and the Baptist's friends' memories of him were fresh.  But Jesus had different subjects, a different manner of speaking, and indeed many or most of his opinions on a great many matters were contrary or opposite to those of John the Baptist.

Elias, on the other hand, died a long time, many centuries before Jesus, but his subject matter and manner might still be known.  Other "old prophets" might be even less known. But given the usual meaning of "reincarnation" instead of the misapplied meaning of "resurrection" then Jesus could indeed have lived a former lifetime as one of these old prophets, and still be doing and saying exactly as he was doing and saying at the time or times described by these texts (which do not agree exactly in all their details as anyone can see).

After the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, it became "politically correct" to think of Jesus as pre-existing before his birth near Qumran in 7 BC, and Christian authors of the Middle Ages and later "wrote in" the presence of Jesus throughout the entire time period of the Old Testament.  In this "new view" Jesus was the actual Creator of Adam.

Following this "new view" wherever it may lead, modern preachers can and do SEE JESUS BEING PRESENT when Abraham looked at the stars --

John 8:56 "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.  57 Then said the Jews unto him, thou art not yet fifty years old, and has thou seen Abraham?"

58 "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I  say unto you, before Abraham was, I am."

Orthodox and Fundamentalist Christians are quite willing to use sayings like these of Jesus to claim for him pre-existence before his birth as a baby in 7 BC, but will not admit that the very same texts can also support other incarnations of Jesus in the era or time-frame in which Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob lived.   Modern Christian supporters of reincarnation, such as Edgar Cayce, see Jesus as actually living the lives of such people as Joseph, Moses, and Elijah.

Reincarnation, as the great "leveler" makes it possible for any and all of us to speculate on our possible greatness (or depravity) in other life-times, and use this present life-time to achieve whatever we can achieve, not put off living to gain heaven or avoid hell -- two places which may not exist, except in the minds and imaginations of those who have a lot to gain by selling their ideas to those who will grant them great power over their own lives and money in exchange.

The Apostle Paul

defended against all comers the

Resurrection from the Dead

and indeed we can credit the Apostle Paul with the texts most used by modern would-be prophets to set up their largely imaginary scenarios for the the so-called

Secret Rapture of the Saints

Wrote Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have NO HOPE."

14 "For if we believe that Jesus died and ROSE AGAIN, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."

15 "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are ALIVE AND REMAIN unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are ASLEEP."

16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a SHOUT, with the VOICE of the arcangel, and with the TRUMP OF GOD: and the dead in Christ shall RISE FIRST:  17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

HOWEVER, WE DID NOT BELIEVE THIS "SECOND COMING OF JESUS" AND THE ACCOMPANYING RESURRECTION OF OUR DEAD ADVENTIST FRIENDS AND FAMILY WOULD BE A "SECRET" BUT WOULD BE WITNESSED BY EVERY ONE IN THE WORLD.   REV. 1:7 "--EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM, AND THEY ALSO WHO PIERCED HIM---"

BEAUTIFUL AS THIS PICTURE IS, AND KNOWING FULL WELL HOW MANY MILLIONS HAVE BELIEVED IT WOULD HAPPEN IN THEIR LIFE-TIMES, IT HASN'T HAPPENED  -- INSTEAD, ISRAEL BECAME A NATION ONCE AGAIN,  SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS BECAME TRINITARIANS, "RAPTURE 88" NEVER OCCURRED, AND I'M BACK TO CONSIDERING "REINCARNATION" WAS THE RIGHT BELIEF ALL ALONG - AND SEEING THAT JESUS SUPPORTED THAT BELIEF, EVEN THOUGH PAUL DID NOT.

   Christian "Gospel" of John 3:16,17

John 3:16 "For God so loved the WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting LIFE."

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the WORLD to condemn the WORLD; but that the WORLD through him might be SAVED."

Now I can see that this is nothing more than paraphrased Egyptian Theology based on a Trinity of Osiris, Isis, and Horus -- but let's look at earlier in this chapter!

John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him (Nicodemus), "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Stated as simply as it is possible to state it -- REINCARNATION is simply being BORN AGAIN, over and over again, for MANY LIFETIMES!

What if that's really what's going on here on Earth, -- and what if there's no real "Heaven" or "Hell" (other than those we're creating all the time --

And what if Jesus Christ was on top of this all along -- and just letting Paul be "creative"!

Our World is a world full of people of all colors and backgrounds who worship (those who worship anything) all sorts of gods and religions. More of them believe in some sort of Reincarnation than believe in any sort of Resurrection from the Dead. What if this majority is RIGHT?   Ask me in ANOTHER LIFE-TIME and perhaps I'll have an ANSWER for you!
