THE STRUGGLE TO BE  THE GREATEST

AMONG RON WYATT'S DISCIPLES

E  Luke 22:24 "And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest."

25 "And he (Jesus) said unto them, the kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors."

26 "But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is CHIEF, as HE that doth SERVE."

Ron Wyatt's biggest problem was he had a "Messiah Complex", and made everyone who helped him feel uncomfortable because of it."

 COMPETITION AND CONTROVERSY

LEFT, Ron Wyatt -- RIGHT, Dr. Robert Holt, MD.  Middle: Elevations of Boat-Shaped Formarion

Ron Wyatt acted as if God had called him especially to discover everything worth discover-ing in our age, and was loathe to take advice from anyone else who happened to disagree with him on any subject whatsoever.  In the case of David Fasold and Larry Williams, this prevented Ron from following up on evidence that Noah's Ark was made of reeds, such as were all large cargo-carrying rafts or boats of that era.  And in Larry Williams case, Ron never gave a second thought to the possibility that Israel may have crossed the Gulf of Aqaba at Sharm el Shiekh.

But Ron Wyatt got to be quite abrasive in his dealings with other people and stubborn in his opinions in an understandable way and sort of out of necessity.  He began his discoveries in an area of search that was already full of "heroes" and "discoverers" but for which both the secular and religious public seemed to have an insatiable appetite.  The SEARCH FOR THE REAL ARK OF NOAH.   The public has always assumed that the man or team that actually climbed aboard the ARK OF NOAH in modern times with still cameras and movie cameras, and later video cameras and cell phone cameras running and recording every precious and historic moment would be the number one NEWS topic for that day, and perhaps weeks and months.

People have been writing new "Noah's Ark" books for ages! But Ron Wyatt was one searcher of very few who was not looking for remains of the Ark up in the perpetually snowy ice and snow on the very top of Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey.

Ron had a rather dull job as an operating Anesthesia Nurse, and he came to live for those exciting journeys he made to far-away places looking for Biblically important artifacts that would prove once-and-for-all that the Bible in inerrant and that Yes, we're all on our way to ETERNAL LIFE and HEAVENLY BLISS "Forever and Ever".    The importance of the person who could at last prove this to be the case would be so high above his dull job and ho-hum everyday existence as the father of sometimes troublesome sons and a dissatisfied wife who divorced him was a shining beacon that drove him ever on.   Unlike many with the same ambitions, every now and then he got to taste a degree of SUCCESS that might have satisfied a person with lesser ambitions.  But not Ron Wyatt!  He forged ahead on other IMPOSSIBLE PROJECTS, and made progress in them also, until the sheer number made them seem incredulous to most people.   Ron was not yet recognized as the MESSIAH he had hoped to become.   And less than No 1 was never quite satisfactory to him.
As Noah was the preacher sent by God to a rebellious and unbelieving and sinful generation, so would Ron Wyatt be the "Messiah" to a non Bible-believing nation of modern youth brought up on Evolution and Socialism to get ready for Christ's Second Coming in a judgment on earth that will make Noah's flood look mild in comparison.  Ron could do it!  He knew he could!  All that was needed was proper tools!

Ron Wyatt was able to publish a small paperback book which a lot of religious people, many of them in the "Rapture 88" movement bought in 1988 because they thought finding Noah's Ark was a sign of the "Rapture". However, the much bigger, better illustrated, and more widely read hardback book, followed by a paperback edition by Wynnwood Books was by Dave Fasold. As shown on the cover, Dave saw the boat as being made of reeds.

When I helped Ron Wyatt and Randy Osborne dig for the Ark of the Covenant in October of 1989, Ron wouldn't tell me where to go to dive and look for the Golden Chariot Wheels of Pharaoh's chariot, but I did know enough from watching his former videos that once I found a marble column standing by the Gulf of Aquaba I was at the right place. So I learned to scuba dive and looked for and found Nuweiba in Egypt.

Ron's theory that Israel had crossed the Sinai Desert in a great hurry with Pharaoh's army right behind them is based on his interpretation of the Exodus story, but his inability to provide even ONE proven "golden chariot wheel" from Pharaoh's own chariot, or even a significant portion of any of the other supposedly 600 chariots put a damper on his being an effective "Messiah" for this particular Biblical event also.

Pharaoh's Chariot Wheels? Maybe!

Like so many others who have tried to find what Ron Wyatt was preaching he had found on that beach beneath the waves, I found lots of underwater junk of all sorts, covered with sea-weed and coral, but no genuinely old items of any real historic value.

WHILE RON WYATT AND HIS SONS AND THEN DAVE FASOLD WERE GETTING ARRESTED AT JEBEL EL LAWZ, AND WERE UNABLE TO PUBLISH THEIR DISCOVERY, LARRY WILLIAMS GOT PICTURES AND WAS ABLE TO PUBLISH NOT JUST ONE, BUT TWO HARD-COVER BOOKS!

Dave, shown here with a Noah's ark anchor stone, and Larry on the right in his hiking clothes, were doing their own work, although steered in the right direction by Ron Wyatt.

“…by six we were on the road, following David Fasold’s instructions and my topographical map…. According to David’s instructions, we should find a turnoff four kilometers past the gas station… (p. 151)

“We attempted to follow David’s meticulous instructions to the letter….(p. 152)“

…we asked these people how to find Ibraham Frich, the local Beduoin who tends most of the sheep in this great valley

…. We wanted to see Frich for 2 reasons. First we wanted to tell him hello from David and to give him some things we had bought for him in town that we thought perhaps he would like.

"Second, David had told us that Frich’s camp was right at the base of Jabal al Lawz, so we would not have to ask where the mountain was… (p. 153)"

"The section of his book telling about how they arrived at the site is dotted with numerous references to the directions given them by Mr. Fasold."

As yet, by 1990, when Larry Williams was able to publish his first book because he had the pictures and could prove to the world what he and Cornuke had seen, Ron Wyatt was still mired in trouble and extortion games with high-ranking persons in Saudia Arabia, and others in Egypt and elsewhere trying to hold all his information hostage.  To a would-be "Messiah" like Ron Wyatt, this was not only unfair but humiliating.  He felt like he was being made to struggle with the "Devil"  and his demons quite like Jesus faced the same battle while on earth!

8 YEARS LATER, IN 1998, LARRY WILLIAMS CO-AUTHORED WITH HOWARD BLUM ANOTHER BOOK ABOUT JEBEL EL LAWZ TITLED

THE GOLD OF EXODUS

OBVIOUSLY NOT ABOUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS BUT INSTEAD ABOUT THE TRADITION THAT ISRAEL HAD LEFT EGYPT WITH A LOT OF GOLD!

HOWEVER, THIS HAS WORKED WELL FOR THE TRUTH OF WHATEVER DID HAPPEN IN EGYPT, AND THE WILDERNESS, AND NOW, IT SEEMS, IN THE ARABIAN "LAND OF MIDIAN", WHICH NOW BECOMES KNOWN, AT LAST!

"MOUNTAIN OF MOSES"

"Jebel el Lawz"

Mt. Sinai

                    by Mary Nell Wyatt

(Originally published in Newsletter #6, dated January 1994- see photo page no. 8.)

         Mt. Sinai/Horeb- Where was It?

If we go the Bible, the location of Mt. Sinai is not that difficult to ascertain. When God first spoke to Moses regarding the great work of leading the people out of their Egyptian bondage, He told Moses: EXO 3:12 .... Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. To find out exactly where Moses was when this conversation took place, we need to go to the beginning of chapter 3: EXO 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. This conversation took place at the foot of the "mountain of God". Moses was even told to remove his shoes, as he was standing was "holy ground" (verse 5). So, we now know that Moses was in Midian, in the "backside of the desert", which seems to us to imply the area opposite the main portion of the desert or, the other side of the mountain which provided the border of the desert. We make this assumption simply because in order to have a "backside of the desert", there must be something which marks a separation of the "frontside" and the "backside".

When Ron studied the Biblical account, he noted these references- that the mountain to which Moses was to lead the people was in Midian; and that the place where Moses spoke to God in the burning bush was specifically stated to be in the "backside of the desert". With this information, along with the discoveries of the chariot parts in the Gulf of Aqaba, he looked for a mountain on the eastern side of the gulf which fit this description. There was only one candidate in his opinion, and this was Jebel el Lawz. His flight maps showed this mountain to be in an almost semi-circular range, with a vast desert area around it as well as more than enough room for the encampment of perhaps a couple of million people along with their flocks and herds. Not only that, but there was a single, large oasis located fairly nearby- an area that could have been the home of his father-in-law, Jethro- and this was the town of Al-Bad. He saw that there was desert area around Jebel el Lawz, between Al-Bad and the highest peak in this mountain range- and that there were valleys in the mountain range which Moses could have led his flocks through, taking him to the "backside of the desert". Ron was convinced that this mountain had to be the one.

           The "Traditional" Mr. Sinai

The traditional location in the Sinai Peninsula didn’t "come into being" until almost 2,000 years after the Exodus: "The origin of the present Monastery of Saint Catherine on the NW slope of Jebel Musa is traced back to A.D. 527, when Emperor Justanian established it on the site where Helena, mother of Constantine the Great, had erected a small church two centuries earlier." (The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible, 1962, p. 376.)

"There is no Jewish tradition of the geographical location of Mt. Sinai; it seems that its exact location was obscure already in the time of the monarchy....". (The Jewish Encyclopedia, Vol. 14, p. 1599.)

In 1761-1767, Von Haven, the member of a Danish expedition to the traditional site wrote, as reported in "Arabia Felix: The Danish Expedition of 1971-1767, by Thorkild Hansen: "I have observed earlier that we could not possibly be at Mount Sinai. The monastery [of St. Catherine] was situated in a narrow valley, which was not even large enough for a medium-sized army to be able to camp in, let alone the 600,000 men that Moses had with him, who, together with their wives and children, must have come to over 3,000,000."

The fact is clear that the Sinai Peninsula was always considered to be Egyptian territory. There is an abundance of evidence that the Egyptians controlled the Sinai Peninsula during the time of the Exodus because of their mining operations there. This archaeological evidence is still present and evident today. The peninsula today doesn’t even have any population to speak of except those who live around the few oases, many of which today contain the gasoline stations for travellers- travellers who are going to either the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba to go scuba diving or those visitors who go to the traditional Mt. Sinai.

In "Arabia and the Bible" by James Montgomery, we read on p. 31: "...the land west of a line from the Wady of Egypt to the Elanitic Gulf [Gulf of Aqaba] has always belonged to the Egyptian political sphere, and actually that is the present boundary of Egypt....the South-Arabians called the same region Msr, i.e. Misraim, Egypt."

Local Traditions of Moses and Jethro In NW Arabia

But also importantly, the few explorers of this region found the NW area of Arabia (Midian) to have a vast array of local traditions about Moses and Jethro in the area, as H. St. John Philby writes of his extensive exploration of the area in his "The Land of Midian", p. 222: "From here my guide and I climbed up the cliff to visit the 'circles of Jethro' on the summit of Musalla ridge, from which we climbed down quite easily to our camp on the far side....A cairn marked the spot where Jethro is supposed to have prayed, and all round it are numerous circles,..."

Charles Doughtery travelled the entire area and in his chronicles of his journey, "Travels in Arabia Deserta", he writes of: "...a tradition amongst their [the inhabitants of this NW Arabian region] ancestors that 'very anciently they occupied all that country about Maan, where also Moses fed the flocks of Jethro the Prophet.' "

Later in this issue, you will learn that when Ron was at Jebel el Lawz in 1985 with Dave Fasold, they were told that this mountain is even today known to the inhabitants of the region as "Jebel Musa", or the mountain of Moses.

Philby’s Investigation of Jebel el Lawz

If we continue with Philby’s account as left off above, he writes: "From here [the ridge which had the ’Circles of Jethro’] I had a magnificent view of the whole of the Midian mountain range, with Lauz [Lawz] and its sister peaks in the northeast and Maqla’a very little north of east, with the valley of al-Numair separating the latter from the low ridge of All Marra, extending from east to south-east, where the two peaks of Hurab stood out in front of the great range of Zuhd, which runs down to a point not far from the sea to our southward....The spot that held my imagination was the smooth, double-headed, granite boss of Hurab, an obvious candidate for identification with the Mount Horeb of the Exodus,...the only candidate for the honor which can claim to have preserved the name....According to Hasballah, the name Hurab applies primarily to the wadi [canyon], while he calls the mountain itself Al Manifa (which simply means lofty.)"

Bible Commentaries on "Midian" and "Sinai"

All these quotes only confirm that in the last century, men were led to investigate the evidences of the true site of Mt. Sinai because the traditional site simply did not fit the Biblical description. For some reason, many Biblical scholars simply ignored the Biblical fact that Mt. Sinai was in Midian. A quick check in several Bible commentaries shows that the location of Midian is pretty much accepted as being in Saudi Arabia: "Midian, a son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen. xxv. 2; I Chr. I.32); progenitor of the Midianites, or Arabians dwelling principally in the desert north of the peninsula of Arabia. Southwards, they extended along the eastern shore of the Gulf of Eyleh [Gulf of Aqaba]..." "Smith’s Bible Dictionary", under "Midian". However, in this same book, under "Mt. Sinai", we find the traditional location in the Sinai Peninsula given.

Remember Paul’s reference to Mt. Sinai?: GAL 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. "Peake’s Commentary on the Bible" noticed it, as Paul’s entire passage here is explained: "Their mothers likewise represent the two dispensations. Hagar [Agar] represents that given on Mr. Sinai, and, Paul notes in passing the appropriateness of the fact that Mt. Sinai is in Arabia, the land to which Hagar took her son."

We have numerous commentaries which locate Midian in Saudi Arabia, but few which locate Sinai there. Why? In our opinion, God allowed the true location to remain unknown until He saw fit to reveal it. If we carefully study the Biblical evidences which archaeology has revealed, we will see that the vast majority of these came to light beginning in the 1800’s-the time in earth’s history in which these things could be presented to the world in publications and books. Had they been known for any length of time, there would be no evidence left.

"The Biblical references connecting Sinai with Mount Seir, Edom and the land of Midian seem cleary to indicate this region east of the Aelanitic Gulf (g. of Akaba) as pointed out by Beke (1834), Walhausen (1886), Sayce (1894), Moore (1895), Shede (1897), Gall (1898), Gunkel (1903), Edward Meyer (1906), Schmidt (1908), Gressmann (1913), Haupt (1914) and by Alois Musil in ’The Northern Hegaz’ (1911)." THE BAD NEWS! If you really care to know it ---.

Is that now Ron Wyatt's theories about Jabal al Laws have really caught on with many Christian Protestant  groups, and also the Saudis, seeing tourist possibilities---

Good Research has shown that there's no more GOOD    REASONS to believe this site REAL than other easier to get to sites in the Sinai Desert -- MORE LATER ON THIS!

Now although as a Medical Doctor and a fairly rational person I'm not very superstitious, and I've seen Ronald E. Wyatt do some really stupid and irrational things, as have others who have known him well --- but it's not nice to speak ill of the dead.  I feel that Ron believed in what he was doing, and did it reasonably well most of the time.  He was a fanatic, but aren't we all, at least some of the time.  Some people, however, go really off the deep end in their criticism of Ron.  Here one person has added some comments about FAIRNESS to some really caustic comments about one book being sold on Amazon that support and promote Ron Wyatt's theories.

* Rumors from some no-name's wife which are refuted point-blank by both of Ron Wyatt's sons on video, who were both with Ron on his dives really only speaks to a desperate mind.

The rumors were about Ron actually planting fake chariot wheels at Nuweiba.

* Baumgardner's flip-flop doesn't pass the smell test. You don't just go from absolute scientific confirmation by a professional from Los Alamos labs who was there on site helping to document the enormous finds which were/are encrusted in the formation, as shown live on video, and attested to by another witness David Fasold (whom Baumgardner also has to contradict to make his new story hold water, which essentially calls Fasold a liar and posits a conspiracy theory in one blow) accumulating masses of data on scientifically-proven ancient, hi-tech alloys, and then later, without any real explanation, claims they were planted with zero proof. That in itself would require some sort of miracle of genius and industry on Ron Wyatt's part (whom his critics simultaneously claim was a bumbling fool basically too incompetent to tie his own shoelaces.. while others claim he was just plain ol' crazy - there's your options).

Baumgardner did indeed change his mind and decide there was enough evidence for him to decide what we are seeing in the "boat shaped formation" is not Noah's Ark.

No, there is something else at work here as there has been since the time one of Wyatt's "friends" called the Saudi gov't and lied to prevent him from collecting evidence on the real Mt. Sinai in Arabia, claiming he and his sons were "Israeli spies," which landed him in jail (almost costing him his life) for months until the Saudi Prince, Samran, was convinced Ron was telling the truth after he was shown the large ancient Pillar Solomon apparently erected at the site of the Red Sea crossing site (Gulf of Aqaba) on the Arabian shore. Later the Saudi Gov't barb-wired the other major findings (like the huge altar Aaron erected to the golden calf, the pillars, massive burial site, etc) and posted a guard post.

The magnitude of Ron's story has the potential to seriously alter the landscape in global politics and religion, you would have to be extremely naive to think there *wouldn't* be enormous interest by powerful groups to discredit Ron Wyatt, and fund an internet disinformation campaign against him, sending droves of trolls to make vapid posts like the above. The pattern of some of Ron's closest supporters mysteriously turning on him without explanation is a major red flag - for instance, now even Richard Rives (current Director of the Wyatt Museum in Tennessee, and was a close colleague and friend of Wyatt) is on video boldly lying (there's no other way to describe it), claiming Ron never said certain things he is recorded on video clearly stating. Joe Zias is another one who is documented as lying about Ron Wyatt, proven by the IAA's own records which show Ron certainly was digging where and when he said he was when he made some of his most startling discoveries in the Garden Tomb area; now these latter discoveries he was always upfront about that he couldn't share the evidence in cooperation with the Israeli gov't, but that in the future it would come out - he was not sure when - but it is because of the confirmed masses of evidence for his other finds that he earns credibility despite the endless disinfo attacks and smears.

The patterns of disinfo, the slews of people caught in lies blowing their credibility (while claiming Wyatt is the liar) are the tell-tale signs of a major propaganda campaign against Ron and his story, particularly his latter finds about the blood on the mercy seat, which would devastate the current power structure in Israel and the world. There's also a couple of career trolls that stick out like sore thumbs who seem to work 24/7 to guard and slander his information on Wikipedia and spread ridiculous disinfo on YouTube.

*Wyatt's claims for Noah's Ark, Mt. Sinai in Arabia, Red Sea crossing location, Sodom & Gomorrah are attested to by countless hours of footage and hardcore physical evidence you could literally get beaten over the head with, dozens and dozens of independent eye-witnesses on record, explorers, PhDs in geology, archaeology, marine-biology, the Turkey Gov't officials and teams of scientists from their University, Director of Antiquities in Egypt on video (who later mysteriously "lost" the coral-encrusted chariot wheel he dated to the 18th dynasty), and corroborated by ancient historians like Josephus and Philo, Bedouin and the Arabs themselves, including Caliphs, ancient maps and most importantly, biblical details from Exodus to Galatians which can be seen with satellite photos on Google earth today in some cases. But again, critics particularly like to focus on the ark of the covenant find specifically because there's no proof as yet. Sorry, but you don't get to sweep away the evidence for all the other discoveries which is staggering with heaps of more finds and confirmation mounting by others all the time including professionals like Lennart Moller to name one. I've investigated both sides of Ron Wyatt's story and this man has tremendous credibility in his discoveries, regardless of any of his views on religion, politics or any other red herrings critics try to shift your attention to.

*Some Linda Gunderson nobody doesn't trump Scientific experts and Turkey government officials who had hands on confirmation of the ancient ark in Turkey.

"I have no doubt at all that the object is a ship. In my entire career, I have never seen an object like this on a stereo photo"
~ Dr. Arthur Brandenburger, A Stereo Photogramatry Expert, who accompanied the group of US and Turkish Experts to the region on an expedition to see this shape.

February 1987 - Ron meets with the Governor of the Agri District, Mr. Sevket Ekinci. The December 1986 decision was positive - it was the official decision of members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of Internal Affairs, and researchers from Ataturk University, among others, that the "boat-shaped formation" did indeed contain the remains of Noah's Ark!

Plans were made for the official dedication of the site, which would include Ron as guest of honor as the "discoverer" of the fact that it was truly the remains of Noah's Ark.

June 20, 1987 - Ron participates in the Dedication of "Noah's Ark."

On the mountainside overlooking the former "boat shaped object", which had now been proclaimed by the Turkish Government to be "Noah's Ark", were gathered a large number of dignitaries, from the local level to the national level, as well as high ranking military. Journalists were also present.

The plans were made public for a visitors' center to be erected on the spot. The governor spoke the dedication in Turkish and then he lifted the first shovel full of dirt - the groundbreaking of the new visitors' center. Ron, as guest of honor, lifted the second shovel full of dirt and then other dignitaries participated in the ceremony."

Oh and, while I haven't read the book, The Exodus Revealed DVD most certainly DOES disclose that the image of the gold foil from the chariot wheel is a recreation (which IS on film recorded by Ron Wyatt) as it says so plain as day right on the screen the whole time -- I've watched it myself and can safely say you either have not, or you are in fact engaging in malicious disinformation. Shame on you. Once again, Ron Wyatt's critics' ploys backfires. It has literally happened everytime I've seen someone decide to attack Ron Wyatt - always at least one obvious lie sticking out (usually many), like some calling card. It's amazing how shamelessly people lie while claiming the person their lying about is a liar! Makes me SICK!!

Below I've posted a picture from the Internet of some Bedouin-type travelers carrying what may be a box containing their most holy literature in their caravan across the desert wastlands hoping to find a new and better place for both themselves and their new (to them) religious ideas.  Of course they thought their God was best and most powerful.  We all do, who believe in any type of "God" at all!  These migrations have not been imaginary, they have been real.  We can prove them by bits of bone, and pottery, and graves, and foundations of the structures these people lived in.  It's not so much that it is different that should help us believe the story of the Hebrews and of the Exodus in the Bible.  It's because, stripped of all its obvious exaggerations and magic, its the SAME STORY.  The story of all of use.  It's even written in our DNA.  We're quibbling about such things as routes and names for God or the gods.  Minor details!  The point is, it happened!  We know it.
