The Letter to Pergamos

"At first, John of Zebedee came with Jesus to the island of Patmos, off the coast of Asia Minor.  There he wrote the first part of the book of Revelation, with letters to the seven churches of the province of Asia, conveying the will of Jesus concerning the different problems, moral and doctrinal, that were besetting them."  The letter to Pergamos contains a historical event that occurred in 92 AD, the martyrdom of a Christian bishop named Antipas.  This shows that although started in 49 AD at Patmos, Revelation was still being added to in 92 AD. But this is not the main point here, as I have shown.
Barbara Thiering writes:"John wrote that he was on the island of Patmos "on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus".   He was "in the Spirit on the Lord's day", that is, acting as a presbyter on the Sunday service, when he heard behind him a loud voice telling him to write what he saw, in a book. " I'm contending that this was not a Sunday service, but an Essene YOM KIPPUR service, and that John of Zebedee was only one of several authors of this book.
The letter begins by referring to a sword with two edges.  We have switched from the Biblical story references in the first two letters to now an emphasis on Pagan (Greek and Roman) mythology in which the two edged sword belongs to Mars-Aries, the Greek and Roman god of War. The Age of Taurus is past, the Age of Aries has now begun. In this age (2000 to 1000 BC) lived Balak and Balaam, who are referred to in this letter.

Pergamos

Revelation 2:12 "And to the angel of the church of Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast  my name, and hast not denied  my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.  14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I come quickly, and I will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.  17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith  unto the churches; To him who overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no  man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

By receiving the third letter in the sequence, Pergamos represents the third millennial day, from 2000 BC until 1000 BC.  As does Ephesus, Pergamos starts with astrology.  In Greek and Roman mythology the God of War was Mars or Aries, symbolized by the sharp sword with two edges.  The constellation for the Age of Aries was that of the RAM.   Abraham offered a ram in place of Isaac. But Abraham is not mentioned here.  However, in this time period appear Balaam and Balak, who ARE mentioned.   And manna, which Israel ate while wandering in the wilderness.   Jesus himself, born in March, was born under the sign of Aries, so could claim to slay people with such a sword.   Also known by the Essenes as the "word" this term has a double meaning.   The phrases about the "white stone" and a "new name" document a practice of the Essenes at the time of Jesus in which the Essene baptizers of Diaspora Jews (or Gentiles) would, for a cash donation, give these would-be Jews a stone from the Jordan River with a new Jewish name written on it.   Now they were Jews!

Once one understands that the Essenes in the end supported a MILLENNIAL WEEK prophecy, also shown in John chapter 7, the 8 parables of Matthew 13, and Daniel chapter 12, its possible to find the same MILLENNIAL WEEK prophecy in Revelation chapters 2 and 3.  Others can do little more than draw fanciful pictures like that shown on the left, and let their imaginations run wild and invent prophecies that terrorize their fellow church-goers (until these prophecies fail).
